G.H. Tool & Mold expanding in Bulloch County
10.30.2017
Statesboro, Georgia — G.H. Tool & Mold, LLC, part of the Tooling Technologies Group, today announced the expansion of its Statesboro facility in Bulloch County, Georgia. The announcement was made with support from the Development Authority of Bulloch County. G.H. Tool’s decision to expand was made to strengthen its partnership with Briggs & Stratton upon learning of the company’s desire to expand at its Statesboro facility. As a direct service provider, G.H. Tool & Mold doubled its capacity in Georgia to continue to provide Briggs & Stratton high-quality service. The project was awarded to local builder Tracy Marsh Contracting.
G.H. Tool & Mold established this facility in 2000 to service tooling and support production at Briggs & Stratton’s Large Engine Division in Statesboro. A second shift was added recently, increasing G.H. Tool’s ability to support Briggs & Stratton’s round-the-clock manufacturing schedules. Three skilled tooling professionals have been added to date, with plans to add more as Briggs’ production increases. The facility expansion, which increases the total work space to nearly 20,000 square feet, is needed to sustain this high level of service.
In addition to the investment in the building and additional workers, G.H. Tool has installed more high-speed Computer Numerical Control milling machines and a larger Electrical Discharge Machine. These machines increase capacity and the ability to remain responsive to Briggs and the surrounding manufacturing businesses needing tooling repairs and machining services.
“We are excited that G.H. Tool & Mold is expanding its current workforce in Statesboro to support the growing manufacturing sector in this region,” said Pat Wilson, Georgia Department of Economic Development commissioner. “We anticipate that this industry will continue to grow, providing more opportunities for companies like G.H. Tool & Mold to prosper.”
Dave Graves, president of G.H. Tool & Mold, stated, “Our experience here in Statesboro has convinced us this is a great place to do business. As a result, it was an easy decision to support Briggs & Stratton’s expansion goals. We are proud to say we are ahead of schedule on those expansion efforts. We look forward to contributing to Briggs & Stratton’s success, as well as aiding in making the Statesboro region a stronger manufacturing center.”
Bruce Yawn, chairman of the Development Authority of Bulloch County, said, “The authority is happy to announce the G.H. Tool expansion in support of the recent decision by Briggs & Stratton to expand in Statesboro. G.H. Tool is a great example of our successful and thriving manufacturing sector in Statesboro-Bulloch County, and we’re pleased to support their expansion here.”
G.H. Tool & Mold, founded in 1983 in Washington, Missouri, specializes in the design and manufacture of high-quality tooling for die casters in the automotive, lawn and garden, and aerospace industries.
