READY TO WORK. More than 350 job seekers attend first job fair for Hyundai suppliers.

04.25.2024

More than 350 job seekers brought their resumes and their enthusiasm to the first hiring event for Bulloch County based Hyundai suppliers. Held at Ogeechee Technical College on April 17th, the job fair was sponsored by the Development Authority of Bulloch County and WorkSource Georgia in coordination with employers AJIN Georgia, SECO Ecoplastic and Hanon Systems.

Ultimately, the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America will create 8,500 new jobs, bringing $7.59 billion in investment to the region, with 13 Tier 1 suppliers providing 6,436 jobs and an investment of $2.4 billion. Of those Tier 1 suppliers, three are located in Statesboro and will hire a staff of 1,246, investing $562 million.

Both the large attendance and the eagerness of the job candidates impressed the event’s employers, who were seeking qualified candidates for 30 job titles, with multiple openings for the positions.

“The job fair was an overall success not only in the number of attendees but their level of interest in a career with Ajin Georgia,” noted Jamie Calloway, General Manager of Human Resources for Ajin Georgia. “I want to thank the Development Authority of Bulloch County, WorkSource Georgia and Ogeechee Technical College for supporting the new Tier 1 suppliers.”

The success of the event also gratified sponsors. “A qualified workforce is essential for the prosperity of our local manufacturers,” Benjy Thompson, CEO of the Development Authority of Bulloch County, pointed out. “We were very happy with the outcome of this hiring event, and we are committed to working with our partners to ensure their success in Statesboro-Bulloch County.”
