Bulloch Bullets: Recreation

  • Participate in golf, hiking, bowling, fishing, hiking, boating and much more.
  • Bulloch County operates Splash in the Boro waterpark and aquatic center.
  • Love to watch sports? Georgia Southern University is a Division 1 program.

The crack of a bat. The swoosh of a boogie board. The roar of the crowd. Sound like fun? What about the early morning sun filtering over the glistening greens of a top-rated golf course? A refreshing stroll through an urban trail, or a ramble through lush and sprawling gardens centered on an early 1900s farmstead? How about camping and fishing on a river trail that the Nature Conservancy has named one of the “Last Great Places” in the world? Or reliving the excitement of battle on a real Revolutionary War battlefield, part of a 15,000 acre nature management area?

We’re lucky here in Statesboro and Bulloch County. This region is blessed with blue skies, scenic landscapes and beautiful weather to enjoy them. We’ve invested the resources and energy to help make recreation here a life-enhancing element of everyday life. At our Botanical Gardens, we’re preserving endangered species of plants. At our Center for Wildlife Education, we’re nurturing the once-threatened eagle. In a 24-7, non-stop world, our city-supported parks, playgrounds and trails help preserve the essential human qualities of wonder, play and simple fun.

  • Division I Southern Conference Athletics: Enjoy year-round sports action at Georgia Southern University, where the Eagle teams include football, basketball, baseball and women’s volleyball.

  • Mill Creek Regional Park: A tranquil lake set against a scenic stand of hardwoods; baseball, football, softball and soccer fields; playgrounds; pavilions; a lighted walking trail—this 150-acre parkland puts family recreation on the map.
